Helen Malgas BA (UCT) MA (US)
I enjoy working with children, teenagers and adults. I work with individuals, couples as well as families. I deal with the whole spectrum of psychological and emotional difficulties. I have a special interest in working with women – to prepare for the birth of a child; to deal with the postpartum period of adjusting to motherhood; to support those (men and women) who have lost a baby due to miscarriage or stillbirth as well as those struggling with infertility.
In addition to counselling I also do psychometric assessments including IQ, scholastic, emotional and school readiness assessments as well as career counselling.
Therapeutic approach: My work is largely influenced by Narrative Therapy.
I believe that people possess within themselves the capacity for growth. I see my role as a psychologist as a person who walks alongside people as they journey along the path of growth & self-discovery. I believe in the concept of holistic health and as such I am always seeking for ways to integrate spirituality and physical wellbeing into my interventions with people.
