Julie Gurnell: Art/Trauma Psychotherapist
Julie Gurnell is a HPCSA registered Art Psychotherapist with over 15 years experience working primarily in mental health.
Julie qualified in the UK and worked in non-statutory sectors and the NHS with children, adolescents and adults in community and in-patient settings for 10 years prior to returning to South Africa.
She has further specialised in working with trauma of a developmental and attachment nature, which she has found integrates well with her art therapy practice.
Following her return to South Africa, her focus has broadened to include working with adolescents and adults in recovery, NPO’s and the elderly.
Julie’s private practice is in the southern suburbs where she welcomes referrals where an integrative art therapy or trauma therapy intervention is sought to assist the process of healing and personal development. Previous experience includes teaching, art facilitation and freelance illustration.
Qualifications: BFA (Hons), PG HED, PG AT., EMDR Adv. Level 2 and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy Part 1.
